Shading Geometric Forms

Today’s essential question: How can I shade a geometric form to create the illusion of space?

We will begin this project by practicing shading on a value scale and shading three geometric forms.

Helpful Hints:

Keep in mind where your light source is.

When shading a rounded object follow the curve. It will help to create a full and rounded appearance.

Use the side of the pencil lead rather than the point to create a smoother transition.

This practice sheet will count as a homework grade.

Hi! My name is Ms. Davis and I will be student teaching with Ms. Glavich-Hawkins until the end of April. I am a student from RIT working towards becoming an Art Teacher. I studied art at Ithaca College and then taught preschool in the United States and China. I enjoy making art, traveling, trying new foods, and enjoying the outdoors. I hope to get to know you all better and see the artwork you create!
